The property on which our caravan park stands today was once called "Eden-Bann", and was a Jersey cow stud farm. It was named after the township of Eden on the Bann River in Northern Ireland where relatives of the current owners lived. Ashgrove Avenue was then known as Three Mile Scrub Road.   
   
Some years before the McCook family purchased this land it was used by Chinese to cultivate vegetables for sale at the Brisbane Rocklea markets. At the turn of this century the acreage was home to one of the best prize winning Jersey cow herds in Brisbane. As the city of Brisbane grew in the 1940’s some of the land facing the road was sold for residential development. The caravan park was established in 1957 when the town planning rules of the time did not allow sub-division yet dictated that the land could only be used for residential purposes.   
   
The large Jacaranda tree near the bridge and the Poinciana tree at the entrance are both reknown amongst arborists as magnificent examples which have been allowed to grow in their natural state. The Poinciana tree in the visitors car park is believed to be the largest in Brisbane.
